You don’t mess with the “Misdemeanor.”
Now a proverbial titan in the worlds of R&B and hip-hop, the “Hot Boyz” rapper has amassed five Grammys and 30 million records sold all while championing the title of Nielsen-rated best-selling female rapper…ever.
Rome (read: Swing Mob/ Da Bassment Cru) wasn’t built in a day however, and Missy’s ascension to elite, untouchable superstardom had a less-than-glamorous beginning. Before writing and producing solely with industry giants such as Timbaland and Ginuwine, Missy revealed today on Twitter that she ghostwrote bars for none other than The Cosby Show child star Raven-Symoné.
The “That’s What Little Girls Are Made Of” rapper would later choose the big screen over her budding music career, going on to star in the eponymous That’s So Raven Disney series and in films such as Dr. Dolittle and The Cheetah Girls.
Regardless of Raven’s public image recently taking some serious Ls (come on, do we really needs language and labels?🙄) the Internet took Missy’s revelation and ran with the throwback. Fans on twitter praised the video’s clear homage to Mary J. Blige’s “Real Love,” and the way that little Raven tried to emulate Missy’s flow.
Watch Raven spit Missy’s bars from way back in ’93 and decide for yourself if she brought it to the floor!
