Cara Delevingne is the “it” girl you want to be, scrolling through your Tumblr feed at 2 in the morning and wondering if you can pull off another day of dry shampoo. Effortlessly beautiful, with a strikingly symmetrical face and brows truly on fleek, the 2012 ‘Model of the Year’ is a paradisal blend of when the good girl next door takes off her glasses and shakes out her hair, and the best friend you watch reality TV with.
Delevingne’s poise, professionalism, and chameleon style earned her a coveted spot in runway shows from ranging Rag & Bone to Oscar de la Renta, yet it was her wild, quirky, off-the-catwalk persona that made her a social media darling and certified celebrity.
The 2nd highest-paid model in the world and star of the big screen (with her performance meeting critical acclaim in works such as Paper Towns and Suicide Squad) has proven her versatility once more with her foray into the music scene.
In the newest edition of Radio Times, Delevingne explains her steady pull-back from the cutthroat world of professional modeling, and on finding herself and her passions.
“I didn’t like myself as a model,” she revealed. I didn’t like what I stood for. I didn’t like what it was turning me into. Not that I was focused about how I looked all the time, but it is kind of about that. That is not me at all – you speak to all my oldest best friends and they know I’m not a model. I do not give a s**t about what I look like.”
When questioned about her new pursuits the former runway model revealed, “To be honest, acting is something I’ve wanted to do my entire life…it really teaches me so much about myself and about life, and that’s what I’ve always wanted to do. It makes me very happy.”
Delevingne’s debut song is paired with the soundtrack for her latest film, “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.” The track, “I Feel Everything” is a slowed-down, jazz-guitar-backed vessel for the starlet’s warm, throaty singing voice. While it does little to show the new singer’s vocal range, the talk-singing paired with harmonized backups keeps you humming the pleasant tune for hours.
